2011 Academy Awards

The Academy Awards are over. The King's Speech was the biggest winner of the night, which is cool since it's a damn good movie but I'm still kinda bummed David Fincher didn't nab Best Director for The Social Network though. Black Swan may have been my favorite movie from last year but I knew there was no way in hell the academy would let that freak show film win all the accolades it truly deserved. Either way, it's all good. I thoroughly enjoyed 8/10 of the Best Picture nominees and can easily say last year was a sweet year for film buffs everywhere.

Besides, Patrick Bateman and Matilda both won Oscars.

  2. Wasn't too bad, the results were OK but like you said black swan was hampered by it's content:( Way too much red carpet bullshit though.

  3. This was the only time I've ever watched the red carpet stuff because my good friend Moby was in attendance. Unfortunately I never got to see him. I agree with the Black Swan being put in the shadow because of the content. I loved that movie, reminded me of why I loved movies so much. I think I was happiest when Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross won for best original score. They truly deserved that.

  9. I have the same experience, I was disappointed when they didn't announced David Fincher as the Best Director.
I wonder when will the academy would let a freak show like "American Beauty" to win the best picture again.

  10. Academy awards wasnt so bad , i wuld hve raised my two thumbs up if Inception had won- it deserved better.
It is ok for British to praise the monarchy, but Americans-I guess inspirational or creative movie winning the award would hve been better.
